A Tasty Welcome at Sands Beach Resort

One of the buzzes I get when arriving in any new holiday destination is that wonderful moment when I step through the door of the place that is going to be my temporary home for the next week or fortnight.

Everything’s shiny, fresh and new and just dropping the suitcase onto the perfectly polished floor feels as though I’m not only getting rid of my luggage, but also the stresses and strains that have built up during the bump and grind of everyday working life.
When arriving somewhere late at night after a long day’s travelling, all I usually feel like doing is to leave unpacking the case until morning, swap the shoes for the flip flops and settle into a chair on the terrace to unwind with a long, pleasurable sigh and a glass of beer or wine.

Unfortunately, if my plane has touched down late at night and my room doesn’t have a well stocked mini bar, I’m often denied this little pleasure.

The good news is that this is not something that is likely to happen at Sands Beach Resort when guests pre-order a welcome pack. As well as having a fresh and cosy apartment to greet you, there’ll also be a basket of goodies there to make you feel right at home from the second you arrive.

Welcome packs range from basic (milk, water, bread, ham, cheese, orange juice, tea and coffee) which includes all the essentials for that morning brew, to the Premium Plus pack which is jam-packed with enough goodies to throw your own welcoming party.

As well as having the same items as the basic, the Premium Plus also includes eggs, margarine, bacon, cereals, chocolate, fruit, baked beans, biscuits, wine and six thirst-quenching bottles of beer.

With the Premium Plus pack waiting for you, the most taxing decision you’ll have to make is whether to crack open a cerveza or uncork the wine to drink a toast to your arrival in paradise. Salud!

The Day of the People in Costa Teguise

Visitors to Sands Beach Resort are in for a real treat this weekend…and the chance to pick up some early and unique Christmas gifts.

On Saturday 20th November, Costa Teguise hosts the third Día Internacional de los Pueblos, or International Day of the People. It’s an event full of colour, sights, sounds and smells guaranteed to get the gastric juices flowing which celebrates the incredible mix of nationalities that helps lend Costa Teguise its multi-national character.

As well as loads of stalls featuring ‘must buy’ handicrafts from Spain, Colombia, Rumania, Venezuela, Ecuador, Germany, Belgium, Cuba, Argentina, Senegal and Bolivia, there’s also a full day of multi-cultural activities planned.

Get there at 11am to enjoy what amounts to a musical tour of the world as Canarian folklore groups, music from Germany and Italy, Ecuadorian dancers and tango and paso doble exhibitions add a vibrant soundtrack to the fair throughout the day.
It’s a wonderful event for simply strolling around munching on gastronomic goodies from all over the world whilst enjoying music from diversely different countries and generally just soaking up Costa Teguise’s warm and friendly atmosphere.

The Día Internacional de los Pueblos comes to a close with a demonstration of some hot Cuban salsa beneath the setting sun between 5 and 6pm. Let’s hope there’s someone at the fair selling cool Cuban mojitos for that perfect finishing touch.

The Día Internacional de los Pueblos takes place in the car parking area beside the Celeste Apartments in Costa Teguise.

Sands Beach Resort at the World Travel Market

Whilst we’re all enjoying the winter sunshine, Sands Beach Resort Directors have been braving the British November chills to help promote Sands Beach and Lanzarote at the World Travel Market in London.

As the most prestigious and important event in the travel industry calendar, it is the essential place to be to find out the latest developments in the world of tourism.  More importantly, with all of the biggest names in the travel business attending, it also presents the perfect opportunity to promote Lanzarote.

Apart from the business negotiations taking place at the World Travel Market, there’s also a lot of fun stuff, with super sexy cars on display, wine tasting, Moulin Rouge dancers at the French stand, falcons at the Abu Dhabi stand, massages at the Thai stand and even a waxwork of James Bond’s Daniel Craig at one of the UK stands.

But what about the important business of attracting more visitors? Well there’s already great news this week for Sands Beach and Lanzarote as Monarch Airlines announced that they would be making an additional 6,000 seats available over the Christmas and New Year period to the Canary Islands and Cyprus with a good proportion of these being allocated to the Gatwick to Lanzarote route.

Sounds like a Merry Christmas is going to be had by a lot more people on Lanzarote this year.
