The time of year to dust of the ol’ bike and trainers is upon us once again with the 2010 installment of Ironman Lanzarote. Over the next coming weeks top triathletes from all over the world will be making their way to our little paradise island to participate in what is almost unanimously referred to as the toughest event on the Ironman Circuit. Athletes will be pushed to the limit as they relentlessly navigate themselves through a 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride and then cap it off with a full marathon of 42.2km, which is a total distance of 226 km for those of you who don’t have your calculators handy. Not bad for a day’s work!

Attending the race this year, among others, are sure to be the usual stable of top performers, such as last year’s winners Bert Jammaer and Bella Bayliss, as well as local favorites Gregorio Cáceres and our very own Sands Beach sponsored Nicolas Ward.

Race day gets underway at 0700 in Puerto Del Carmen on Saturday, May 22nd and Sands Beach Resort will be offering a special shuttle to and from the event for its guests and participating athletes who will be staying at the hotel. For more information please contact us at reservations@sandsbeach.eu
